EDUCATION REFORMATION
1– Introduced the following reforms during his administrative post as a Dean and Vice Dean of NCI (1981-1995).
2– Introduction of a course requirement for the Doctoral Degrees of NCI.
3– Introduction of a full-time training requirement for the Doctoral Degrees of NCI.
4– Building a new library at NCI (double the size of the old one) and its support by a computer system, recent books & periodicals.
CONSTRUCTIONS
1– The new hospital of the National Cancer Institute, Cairo University: As a Dean of NCI (1987-1995), he completed the construction and equipment of the hospital (total cast 83.5 millions) which was opened in 1995. With doubling of its bed capacity to 550 beds, it is considered the largest specialized Cancer Center in the Middle East. It included new units of bone marrow transplantation, pediatric oncology, pain control and intensive care), as well as, new supporting services (nursing school, emergency electric station, Biomedical Engineering Unit and underground parking for 200 cars). It serves 65% of the patients free of charge.
2– Renovation of the old hospital of NCI: (total cost of 6.6 million L.E).
3– The Pediatric Hospital (57357): Initiated the plans of this hospital in 1995 in collaboration with the Governorate of Cairo and the Society of Friends of National Cancer Institute. It is the first and largest pediatric cancer center to by constructed and run by the public sector in Egypt (opened 2007), offering its services free of charge.
